Vol.14 No.2

The 1-ply fine wool 'DAISIES' made their debut on the front cover of Handmade in an Australian Wildflower baby blanket by Lynda Maker. Perlé silk 'BUDS', stranded silk 'STARS' and 2-ply crewel wool 'BLOSSOMS' and 'GEMSTONES' are also used to give a life-like texture and appearance to this fantastic project.

INSPIRATIONS



No. 72

Three cheeky little monkeys swing along a curling vine on this cute and cuddly baby blanket'. Designed by Jan Kerton the main 'ingredients' are Jan's velour monkeys. One of the few threads used is Gumnut Yarns silk/wool 'POPPIES' - 645, as the curling vine.



No. 71

Designed by Heather Scott, the centre of this small throw features a panel of brightly coloured embroidered flowers. Wild roses, forget-me-nots and daisies - to name but a few incorporate Gumnut Yarns stranded silk 'STARS'.

No. 66

Carol Hawkins has stitched three plump goldfish onto a powder blue blanket using threads including Gumnut Yarns stranded silk 'STARS' and fine wool 'DAISIES'.

No. 48

"A cosy blanket is the perfect thing to keep a busy fairy warm." Jenny Crowe and Rae Wilson have stitched the perfect blanket "graced by a beautiful fairy" which incorporates Gumnut Yarns crewel wool 'BLOSSOMS' and 'GEMSTONES'.

"Sahara", another fantastic blanket designed and stitched by Jenny McWhinney follows the "Arabian Nights" theme in Issue 33. The single exotic camel features elaborate braid and tassel decorations, created using many types of threads including Gumnut Yarns stranded silk 'STARS' and 1-ply fine wool "DAISIES".

Jenny McWhinney's "Arabian Nights" is "an exotic rug for the lovers of adventure". The champagne wool blanket features three beautifully embroidered camels using a wide variety of threads including Gumnut Yarns stranded silk 'STARS' and 'AZTECS', perlé silk 'BUDS', silk/wool 'OPALS', 1-ply fine wool 'DAISIES', kid mohair 'TULIPS' and 2-ply crewel wool 'GEMSTONES'.

Margaret Light uses only Gumnut Yarns perlé silk 'BUDS' to embroider a garland of forget-me-nots on a fine wool blanket.

Jenny McWhinney's 'Market Day' blanket features Mr Pip and Milly - two field mice returning from market with their supply of fruit. The blanket uses Gumnut Yarns hand-dyed 1-ply fine wool 'DAISIES'.

Susan O'Connor uses only Gumnut Yarns 2-ply crewel wool 'BLOSSOMS' on pure wool fabric to create a beautiful baby's quilt with shadow-worked wreath with bullion roses.

'Wrap your precious bundle in this delightful cotton wrap by Taetia McEwen.' Gumnut Yarns stranded silk 'STARS' only are used.

Vol. 16 No. 10

'Pecking Time' is the latest wool blanket by Bev Tully. It uses many threads including Gumnut Yarns crewel wool 'BLOSSOMS' and 'GEMSTONES' to depict the farm yard scene of a rooster and his mate.


Vol. 16 No. 8

'Buttercups, daisies, daffodils and pansies are just a few of the glorious flowers stitched by Catherine Howell on this delightful blanket.' Threads used are mainly Gumnut Yarns stranded silk 'STARS', perle silk 'BUDS', silk/wool 'POPPIES', fine wool 'DAISIES', kid mohair 'TULIPS', crewel wool 'BLOSSOMS' and 'GEMSTONES'.

'The pastel pink used by Jan Bergman in this lovely blanket is just the right shade to allow the delicate colours in the embroidered flowers to become the focus of the design.' Most of the threads used are Gumnut Yarns fine wool 'DAISIES'.

Jan Bergman's "Rhododendrons and Irises" blanket is worked in 'an unusual array of stitches'. Gumnut Yarns hand-dyed 2-ply crewel wool 'GEMSTONES' and 'BLOSSOMS', 1-ply fine wool 'DAISIES', mohair 'MOONBEAMS' and stranded silk 'STARS' are combined to a 'richly coloured sensational blanket'.

Bev Tully's "Rocky and Prickles Puss" depicts two very naughty kitties that have been caught with their paws in the knitting basket. This woollen blanket uses Gumnut Yarns hand-dyed stranded silk 'STARS', crewel wool 'BLOSSOMS' and 'GEMSTONES', as well as kid mohair 'TULIPS'.

Wendie Young creates a "Summer Love Blanket" using summer weight wool blanketing embroidered with bluebirds in Gumnut Yarns perlé silk 'BUDS'.

Jan McNiece creates a 'Home Paddock' Sheep Blanket for the beginner with masses of naughty sheep in a garden. Jan uses Gumnut Yarns 2-ply crewel wool 'BLOSSOMS' and 'GEMSTONES', and 1-ply fine wool 'DAISIES'.

 

Beautiful Knots & Twists

Helan Pearce again creates a fantastic blanket. This time for the younger member of the family - using both Gumnut Yarns silk and wool threads, to create "Teddy in a Window".
